What is a helper.
The unit everything runs on. One helper, one clear job, with its own laws, leash, and proof. How helpers get decided, and how billing follows.
One helper, one clear job
A helper is one AI doing one clear job for your business. Not a platform, not a seat, not a bundle of features. A job.
If you can't say the job in one sentence, it's probably more than one helper.
The anatomy of a helper
Every helper, no matter the job, has the same six parts:
- A job. One sentence. "Draft replies to repeat customer questions."
- A brain to work from. The shared facts, tone, and rules. See The brain.
- Its tools. Borrowed permission on your accounts, the key card it can't exceed. See Your keys, your accounts.
- Its laws. How you want this specific job done, and what it must never do. See Your way of working.
- Its leash. How much it may do without asking. You set the dial.
- Its proof. The written record it produces every time, checked by a separate checklist. See Show done, never say done.
How a helper gets decided
Helpers come out of the Select conversation, where we look at your work task by task. Three examples of how that goes:
Customers ask the same twenty questions every week. One helper drafts the answers from your brain, in your tone. You approve at first, it earns leash over time.
Polite, scheduled nudges on unpaid invoices, with anything unusual handed to you. Repetitive, writable, checkable.
Answering "where is my refund?" is one job. Deciding and issuing a refund is another, with money moving and tighter laws. So it becomes two helpers, each with its own leash and proof.
When a task turns out to be two jobs wearing one coat, we split it. Two small helpers with clean proofs beat one big helper nobody can check.
How billing follows helpers
You pay per helper, per month. That's the whole logic:
- Per helper. Each live helper is one line on the bill. Cancel one and the rest keep working untouched.
- One-time extras. Setup work and one-off projects are priced once, separately, and agreed before they start.
- The guarantee is per helper too. A broken helper we don't fix within 72 hours makes that month free for that helper. See The guarantee.
For the actual numbers, head to the pricing page. This chapter explains the logic; the ledger keeps the figures.
